Alan Drimmer, PhD, 天美麻豆 president, is pleased to announce, that after a comprehensive national search, Dino M. Hernandez has been named Senior Vice President of Advancement.

In this newly created position, Hernandez is responsible for designing and implementing comprehensive institutional advancement programs, as well as increasing constituent involvement and fundraising outcomes.

淭his senior leadership position is critical for Cleary as we strategically focus on growing private giving to the institution over the next seven years, reports Dr. Drimmer. 淭he university is preparing for its first ever comprehensive campaign as we begin planning for our 150th anniversary celebration in 2033. I am confident that Dino and his team will lead this historical initiative to recordbreaking success for Cleary.

淥ur key targets for the next several years involve developing meaningful philanthropic partnerships with individuals, local and national foundations and corporations; strengthening stewardship and alumni engagement as well as advancement communications; and implementing best standards and practices, Dr. Drimmer reports.

溙烀缆槎 is entering an exciting and important period in its history, Hernandez points out. 淚 am deeply honored to join President Drimmer and the leadership team at this pivotal time as the university prepares for its first ever comprehensive campaign and its 150th anniversary. Together, we will strengthen a culture of engagement and philanthropy that expands opportunity for students and secures Cleary future for generations to come.

Hernandez brings to Cleary more than 30 years of fundraising and progressive leadership experience in higher education advancement. He previously served as Vice President of College Advancement and Executive Director of the Northwestern Michigan College Foundation where he increased the pipeline of gift activity and led efforts to conduct a campaign feasibility study and planning for the organization 75th anniversary.

Prior to this role, Hernandez served as Vice President of Institutional Advancement and Alumni Affairs at the University of The Bahamas and Executive Director of the Canadian Friends of the University of The Bahamas located in Montreal, Canada. He also established and served as the founding Executive Director of the University of The Bahamas United States Foundation in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Thanks to financial support from the foundation, the northern-most campus of the university on Grand Bahama Island, which was destroyed by Hurricane Dorian in 2019, was rebuilt.

Hernandez extensive experience also includes serving as Vice President for Advancement at Notre Dame de Namur University, where he launched the Campaign to Save Ralston Hall and secured $6 million, the largest gift in the university history. The campaign ultimately raised more than $20.2 million in less than two years.

Other positions Hernandez has held include Vice President of University Advancement/Executive Director of the MSU Denver Foundation, and Vice President for Development at Sierra Nevada College, where he led a capital campaign to complete the Holman Arts & Media Center.

Prior to these national and international roles, Hernandez lived and worked in Michigan. For 13 years, he served at Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, where he led two successful comprehensive capital campaigns, raising $46.6 million for one and $100 million for the second. During that time, he managed university advancement, major gifts, annual giving, alumni relations, corporate and foundation development, and advancement communications.

Hernandez is a frequent presenter for the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) on various aspects of advancement and alumni relations. He also has served on the CASE International Commission on Philanthropy, and he and his teams have received numerous CASE 淐ircle of Excellence Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards as well as a 2002 AFP/Kintera Outstanding Internet Fundraising Award.

Hernandez earned an Executive Master degree in Leadership from The McDonough School of Business, Georgetown University in Washington DC; completed a Management Certificate Program at Harvard University in Cambridge, MA; and earned a Bachelor of Arts in History at Wayne State University in Detroit.

天美麻豆 is proud to announce that, for the fourth consecutive year, it was named a 淏est for Vets College. Military Times ranked Cleary one of only 10 universities in Michigan to earn this honor. Cleary also was ranked #68 in the entire country for private, non-for-profit schools receiving this award.

Military Times 淏est for Vets: Colleges is the largest and most comprehensive ranking of the best schools for military service members and veterans. Military Times collects data from an extensive survey from colleges across the country. Institutions are evaluated on academic quality, student support services, affordability, and outcomes for veterans, including graduation and retention rates. Military Times is considered a trusted source for veterans and their families who are searching for reliable and comprehensive information.

淔or 15 years, Best for Vets has helped transitioning service members find schools that not only welcome veterans but actively invest in their success, says Jon Simkins, executive director of Military Times.

淭his award reflects a university outstanding commitment, innovative programming and leadership in creating a welcoming, resource-rich environment for Michigan military-affiliated students, announces Brian Love, MVAA director.

The VFS program, established in 2015, acknowledges schools committed to supporting the needs of veterans and military-connected students. The MVAA awards these institutions gold, silver or bronze level status based on their veteran-focused services and programs.

The post Corporate Executive chooses Cleary for master degree; receives invitation to join national leadership society appeared first on 天美麻豆.

]]>

As the Licensure Boards Coach for Logan University in Chesterfield, Missouri, Tatiana Johnson created and launched a first-of-its-kind student success ecosystem to improve board exam performance. As a result, the school achieved a 40 percent increase in first-time pass rates for students. But this success wasn檛 enough for Johnson; she wanted to gain more knowledge and skills to make an even greater impact.

That when she decided to return to school for her master degree. Before choosing 天美麻豆, she researched many colleges in the tuition exchange program and found Cleary best matched her career aspirations.

Shortly after she began her studies, Johnson was invited to join Cleary chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS), the nation largest leadership honor society with 877 chapters and more than two million members. Only high-achieving students are invited to join this prestigious organization.

In her usual style, Johnson researched the organization to determine if it was worthwhile for her and her well-defined career path. 淚 read the success stories of other members, watched the videos of prominent leaders who were inducted, evaluated the NSLS benefits, and decided this was the right direction for me, she reports.

淭here are people with huge lives who were inducted, she notes. Barack Obama, Brene Brown (researcher, storyteller, and author of six #1 New York Times bestsellers), Ketanji Brown Jackson (US Supreme Court Justice), Bozoma Saint John (Influencer and American businesswoman), Dr. Bernice King (CEO of King Center and peace advocate), Bill Gates, Mark Cuban, and dozens more influential people were inducted into the NSLS.

淢y mother always told me I was an intelligent young lady. Her words resonated with me when I decided to go back to school for my master and take the NSLS journey, too, she notes.

Johnson accepted the nomination and began the five steps of work required for induction in the society. Through NSLS, she received valuable tools to drive her future forward, establish herself even more as an industry leader, build more real-world skills to excel in her career, and keep the fast pace needed to thrive in an ever-changing workplace.

Johnson was inducted into the NSLS in March.

Earning her master degree in Culture, Change, and Leadership at Cleary complements what she learned through the NSLS program. Her ultimate goal: 渃reate lasting, positive change in the world, she asserts. At the time, she had no idea just how much the degree from Cleary and the NSLS would help her in the future.

After she was laid off from the university, she took time to figure out what her next move was going to be. 淚 did a lot of soul searching regarding my career path; where do I want to go, what am I capable of accomplishing, and how will I get there, she says. 淭he training from NSLS aided me in making my plan.

A few months ago, Johnson accepted a pioneer position with Bayer Crop Science. She leads content creation and delivers strategic training programs for large groups of field sales users. She not only works with technical teams and business leaders but also stakeholders to bring them the tools and resources they were missing.

Her career has centered on pioneering new roles, functions, and ecosystems that solve complex puzzles across industries攆rom higher education and healthcare to beauty and wellness.

Johnson recently finished her master degree from Cleary. She completed all of her classes online. 淭his is the first time I have taken online classes, she notes. 淚 admit I was concerned about losing the personal connection of a classroom setting, but it didn檛 happen. The faculty made me feel important; they were supportive, and they made me feel like I was family. I never felt alone or isolated.

淚 am thankful for Cleary and the opportunity to be part of its NSLS chapter. I am growing much more in my professional life and taking on new roles I had not previously considered.

Her footprint is just beginning to impact people lives, thanks to the additional skills she has obtained through her NSLS work and the 天美麻豆 master curriculum.

About NSLS

The National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) is the largest leadership honor society in the United States. 天美麻豆 started its chapter five years ago and now boasts 589 members, including 90 alumni. Cleary is one of only 16 four-year colleges in Michigan to offer an NSLS chapter. Students who demonstrate leadership skills and have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher are nominated by Cleary to join the NSLS.

Students who would like to pursue membership must complete the five steps required for full induction into NSLS:

  1. orientation (meet members and take a personality assessment to help build your leadership foundation)
  2. leadership training day (immersive workshop via video; you will identify your goals and create a plan to achieve them)
  3. live-streamed speaker broadcasts (learn from nationally and internationally recognized business leaders, celebrities, activists and more)
  4. success networking team meetings (meet bi-weekly to share insights and gain perspectives to help fast-track your success)
  5. induction (receive a certificate of leadership and membership; in-person or online ceremony)

Dr. Regina Banks-Hall, dean of Graduate Studies and adult education programs and professor of business, serves as Cleary NSLS advisor.

NSLS inductees are lifetime members of the society and are eligible to take advantage of the many benefits that come as an NSLS member. These include:

  • Access to more than $400,000 in scholarships and awards
  • A job board exclusive to NSLS members
  • Personal success coaching
  • Job placement assistance
  • Leadership training programs
  • Access to private networking events
  • Motivational Mondays (weekly email inspirational message)
  • Discounts and perks from more than 1,000 companies (travel, home and car insurance, electronics, campus books, concert tickets, movie tickets and much more)
